Melbourne Studio Opportunity 

Tired of owning one drawing set and never seeing the design built, or never get the chance to collaborate with the contractors and joiners actually building the project?

If you’re a few years into your career at a large team practice, moving between places regularly to avoid repetitive tasks, and finding yourself siloed into one phase, one typology, or one part of others’ documentation set — while the client contact, site visits, and decision-making stay with others — this role is built for people ready to break out of that.

We’re a multi-disciplinary design studio in Melbourne working across commercial, hospitality, and residential projects. We’re growing, and we’re looking for someone to grow with us into a genuine leadership role — not just fill a seat.

What You’ll Actually Do

Unlike a siloed role at some design practice, we provide end to end opportunity to the people with the right attitude & approach:

• Full project lifecycle — feasibility, concept, documentation, tendering, and construction, on the same project from start to finish.  Often at high pace but that how it should be to get things done.
• Direct client, consultant, and builder contact — not filtered through layers of hierarchy or senior’s only.  You will shadow our director to meetings and partake review process.
• Genuine site and contract administration exposure — not reserved for senior staff only
• Holistic design scope — interior design, architecture, furniture/styling, lighting, procurement and artwork integrated into one outcome
• Regular one-on-ones with our Director (25+ years in the industry) to guide your development in real project work, not an annual review buried in process

As you prove yourself, you take on greater ownership of your own projects, with a direct pathway toward project and team leadership.

How We Work

We value proper project documentation. 

That means comfortable moving between 1:200 / 1:100 concept drawings and 1:5 joinery and junction details, AS & BCA-literate, and aware of the cost and programme impact of your own decisions.

If that’s already how you operate, you’ll fit straight in — if it isn’t, this role will feel like a step up, not a step sideways.

To be upfront: we’ve learned that years of experience don’t always mean strong documentation or BCA knowledge, so we look for skills that genuinely match the experience on paper.  We value effort ~ action speak louder than words.

We’re also looking for people in it for the long run — someone who has similar aspiration to ours and can bring the same standard after probation as they showed getting in, and who’s looking to build with us rather than move on within a year or two.

Software & Workflow

• Revit (primary documentation platform)
• Rhino (concept and design development, generally specialised architectural projects)
• Enscape (design communication and reviews)
• Industry-standard graphic software
• Twinmotion, Blender, or D5 experience is a plus

What We’re Looking For

• 2–5 years’ experience as an architect or interior designer, with strong, provable documentation skills
• Melbourne-based, and able to work on-site — this is a hard requirement. You’ll be actively coordinating with our team, consultants, and clients in person, as our projects needs people who knows the local landscape.  Unfortunately applications without current Melbourne or broader Australian experience won’t likely be progressed
• A collaborative, self-starting mindset — proactive, adaptable, and genuinely curious about growing within the business and contribute to project success
• Confident, professional communication with clients, consultants, and builders
• Highly organised, able to manage competing priorities across multiple live projects, raise concerns whenever they arive
• Someone who takes ownership of their work, communicates their thoughts, respects deadlines and budgets, and wants exposure to site and construction — not just concept
