MCM Performance Bar is located on Level 3, of the newly completed Melbourne University Faculty of Fine Arts and Music building, the bar will cater for large group bookings and events at Hanson Dyer Hall with up to 400 patrons. Concept Black’s design approach is a play on the proportions and scale of the interior of musical instruments. Light illuminates the bar’s gentle curves, reminiscent of an instrument’s hollow belly. We created a sequence of lighting glow & glitter effects using 220 pieces of individual tubes and 70 light sources at varying heights and sizes.
“ Taking cues from brass instruments and the intricate pipe divisions of a traditional organ, the design is a playful nod to the faculty of fine arts and music, in which the bar resides. ”
